Salt Lake County is suffering from an extreme shortage of affordable homes. At the same time, 47% of our air pollution can be tied to our buildings. Our Field of Dreams community addresses both issues.
State-of-the-Art High Efficiency for a Better Community
Field of Dreams provides housing for 20 low-income families in state-of-the-art high-efficiency homes designed to lower utility costs and pollution. Field of Dreams makes affordable housing that is affordable to own and has a low impact on the environment.
Changing Lives
Salt Lake Valley Habitat for Humanity provides an opportunity for home ownership to people who had little hope of ever owning a home. Homeownership stabilizes the lives of their children, which fosters success in school, relationships, and life. Homeownership disrupts intergenerational poverty. Salt Lake Valley Habitat for Humanity has built more than 100 homes, serving working households earning between 30-60% of the area median income. Homeowners provide their down payment through 225 hours of sweat equity and receive a 30-year interest-free loan, making the cost of homeownership less than rent.
