When you volunteer with Salt Lake Valley Habitat for Humanity, you become an integral part of someone's life. Stable housing is the foundation for a healthy life. Volunteering empowers people to become successful homeowners and vital members of the community.  No construction skills are needed!  We give you a "doable" task and help you have fun learning on the job!

Our volunteer opportunities

Home Building

Construction volunteers are the foundation of our affordable homeownership program. Our Field of Dreams project is going strong, and we need all the help we can get!  No construction skills or tools are required! We give you "doable" tasks that accommodate all skill and ability levels. You'll have fun learning on the job!  We schedule 6-hour home building shifts year-round. Email or sign up through our calendar.

Corporate Build Days are a great opportunity for companies to give back!

Groups, churches, small businesses, families, and individuals can volunteer, too!

The ReStore

Volunteers are the heartbeat of the Salt Lake ReStore, helping clean, organize, and arrange the many items donated daily.

We can always use the help of amateur and professional photographers to capture the fun during our construction and ReStore volunteer projects and our special events.

Special Events

Join the fund during one of our fundraising events, Kids Korner Events, or Parking Lot Sales.

Register to volunteer through our online calendar!

View the volunteer opportunities calendar and select a shift.  You will be prompted to enter your information and read the waiver. You can preview the adult (18+) volunteer application and waiver here and the minor (16 & 17) volunteer application and waiver here.

Can kids volunteer?

Volunteers must be at least 16 years old to be on a home building site or 14 years old to work in the ReStore. The legal parents/guardians of volunteers under 18 must complete the volunteer waiver.

Does every volunteer have to complete an application and waiver?

Yes, and this can be done online when you select the date you want to volunteer.

How many people can volunteer at a time?

A maximum of 15 people may volunteer on a homebuilding site and 30 people in the ReStore each day.  You can make a special request for a larger group.

Do you cancel home building shifts during inclement weather?

We build year-round, rain or shine. Please come prepared for the weather!

What days can I volunteer on a home building site?

Home building volunteer shifts are offered on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Fridays, and Saturdays, 9 am to 3 pm (all shifts are six hours).

What days can I volunteer in the ReStore?

ReStore volunteer shifts are available Tuesday through Saturday between 9:00 am – 6:00 pm (minimum 3-hour shift).

Do volunteers need to have any specific skills, knowledge, or tools?

No! We provide training, tools, and supervision. But we also love it when skilled workers volunteer!

Can people with disabilities volunteer?

Yes! We do our best to give people of all abilities a rewarding and meaningful experience.
