Why your gift matters (and multiplies)

  • Safer blocks, less crime: Critical home-repairs have been associated with ~22% lower total crime on treated blocks (including drops in robberies, assaults, and homicides).
  • Stronger health → Homeowners are less likely to miss school or work: Fixing hazards like mold, leaks, and poor ventilation reduces asthma and ER visits for kids — cutting ER visits by ~40%.
  • Job stability: Workers who experience eviction or forced moves are 11–22 percentage points more likely to lose their job. Homeownership stability protects employment.
  • Civic engagement: Affordable homeownership is linked to higher voter turnout, volunteering, and neighborhood leadership — the social ties that make communities thrive.

When we build or repair a home, we don’t just fix a roof — we strengthen the whole block.
