Volunteer Opportunities
Service Team for Exterior Projects (S.T.E.P.)
Helping homeowners tackle tough exterior projects
Habitat for Humanity Greater Salt Lake Area's Service Team for Exterior Projects (S.T.E.P.) is a volunteer-based program that helps low-income homeowners who, because of age, disability, and family circumstances, are unable to address maintenance and repair issues. Homeowners in Salt Lake, Tooele, and Davis Counties are eligible to apply.
Sponsoring a STEP project is a great way to give back to the community while enjoying a fun and engaging day of team building. Participants frequently tell us their team members bonded in a new way, improving communication and collaboration. While on the program site, volunteers must figure out the best way to tackle tasks, honing their cooperation, collaboration, and problem-solving skills. Volunteers often learn new tricks to help them maintain their own homes.
STEP sponsorships are $3,000 to $5,000 per day for up to 15 people. Lunch and a T-shirt are included. You don't need any tools or special knowledge. We provide everything and can accommodate people of all abilities.

Youth Volunteers
Families building memories!
Home Building
Volunteering on a Habitat build site is a great opportunity for some quality parent-teen bonding time. Our site supervisor will give you age-appropriate projects that develop valuable skills. Your child will gain first-hand experience in the construction industry, which may provide insights into rewarding and lucrative career opportunities. But most importantly, you'll create fond memories that will last a lifetime.
Youth groups are encouraged to participate as long as each youth is accompanied by their parent/guardian. Volunteering on the job is an amazing team-building experience where everyone has to learn, coordinate, problem-solve, and work together to get the job done. Shifts last six hours, from 9 am to 3 pm, and are available on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Fridays, and Saturdays.
To volunteer on a home build site, youth must be at least 16 years old and accompanied by their parent(s) or legal guardian(s).
ReStore
Volunteering at the ReStore introduces teens to the retail and building materials industries, both of which offer a variety of career paths, including entrepreneurship. With a flexible 3-hour shift, and a minimum age of 13, the ReStore is a great option for families on the go.
Donation Drives
Children of all ages can participate in donation drives. Nothing is more heartwarming than having a child come to our office and hand over a jar of coins and bills they collected from their neighbors. Their efforts mean more to us than words can express. Lemonade stands, bake sales, and helping neighbors with miscellaneous chores are other ways children can raise money for Habitat.
Group and Individual Builds
Help us build our next home!
When people think of Habitat for Humanity, they picture people building homes. We offer volunteer opportunities for individuals and groups on our Salt Lake area Habitat build sites. Currently, we are working on the Field of Dreams. As a build day volunteer, you will spend six hours learning new skills or putting your knowledge to work in a meaningful way. Skilled tradespeople are welcome; however, no special knowledge or skills are required. We provide instruction, tools, and supervision to ensure you have a fun and rewarding experience. You may learn a few tricks of the trade to put to use in your own home!
People age 16 and up can volunteer at a build site (parents must accompany minors and sign a waiver). We do our best to accommodate people of all abilities. Detailed volunteer instructions will be provided when you sign up.

Corporate Build Days
Sponsor a Habitat home with a powerful team-building day!
Corporate Build Days are a great way to help Habitat build a home, financially and physically, while giving back to the community. Your team of 15 associates will spend six hours on a home-building site, learning new skills or putting their knowledge to work in a meaningful way. Participants frequently tell us their biggest benefits from the experience were building a stronger team and improving communication. While on the build site, volunteers must take and follow instructions, figure things out, cooperate, collaborate, and overcome challenges. They can put newly learned skills to use in their own homes.
We promote Corporate Days on our social media to share the good news. Corporate Day sponsorships are $3,000 for a 15-person team and include lunch and a T-shirt. For more information about Corporate Day opportunities, please submit an inquiry.
The ReStore
Volunteers are the heartbeat of the Salt Lake ReStore, helping clean, organize, and arrange the many items donated daily.
